1. LOBBYING AND MONITORING TRANSPORT ACTIVITIES

2. ERADICATION OF ROADSIDE INSECURITY

Highlighting of mugging and carjacking along major towns and along the highways has seen improved police surveillance and formation of a special police unit. Truckers had suffered the most with highway robbers offloading cargo from moving trucks.

3. ‘ZERO DEATH’ SCHOOL ROAD SAFETY
This project was funded by Motorists Association of Kenya in partnership with well wishers. The program has covered many schools in the initial pilot projects in Nairobi.

4. RESEARCH ON CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS

MAK has undertaken a study to determine the cause of accidents in the country with the aim to establish why 3, 000 people die with half of the casualties being pedestrians. The findings has informed the launch of Road Safety Awareness program supported by the Traffic Commandant.

2. ROAD SAFETY IN SCHOOLS

Nothing pains motorists than to get involved in accident with a school going child. Such accidents are traumatizing according to accounts of those involved in the past..  Children lack basic knowledge on how to use roads when going or coming from schools by either a school bus or a by walking.

MAK supported by Ministry of Education Nairobi County and Kenya Traffic Police headquarters is currently training the schools starting with those along Thika Superhighway.

4. SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS TRAINING

MAK initiated a school bus training program. The program aims to train all bus drivers on how to handle a bus and student management skills.
