12 PEOPLE KILLED IN SALGAA BLACK SPOT 8th March 2014 

At least 12 people died on Saturday night in a crash involving a trailer, a Matatu and a  Car at Salgaa black spot.  The trailer was coming from Eldoret before its breaks failed. It is said to have lost control colliding with two other vehicles.   The victims in the matatu came from the same family. Score others were seriously injured. Traffic Chief Samuel Kimaru reportedly warned driver to stop free wheeling down hill.  This black spot has claimed so many lives to the extent Motorists Association of Kenya is calling for making the section a dual carriage way.

 

EIGHT PASSENGERS KILLED IN LUANDA -KISUMU CRASH

8 passengers died on Monday 24th February 2014 in a Nissan matatu in Luanda, Vihiga County.

Other passengers who suffered critical injuries were admitted to hospital. The fatal crash was at Esong’olo road, off Kisumu-Busia highway.

The victims were members of one family. It is reported that they disagreed with the driver before the accident over bus fare. The driver became reckless by speeding dangerously.

The survivors said the driver jumped out of the speeding matatu after the argument before the vehicle veered off the road and overturned  bursting to flames on impact. Those who could not get out in time out out of the overloaded matatu were burned beyond recognition.

The accident happenned at night.

 

 

 

SEVERAL PASSENGERS DIE IN LIMURU - MAI MAHIU ESCARPMENT. 27/12/2013

Several passengers have today Friday 27th December 2013 died instantly when a Nissan Matatu van carrying 14 people plunged into a cliff. The Rift Valley escarpment  road has a steep zigzag hilly surface. Usually the place rarely has any accidents as drivers are said to be very careful because of the deep valleys. The 14 seater accident has been fewer compared to long distance buses which lead in fatal crashes. This has made the government to ban them from travelling at night during the christmas holidays.

 

BUS AND A PERSONAL CAR CRASH KILLING 3 PEOPLE January 03 2014

Three people died after a bus and a private car collided at Matuu in Machakos County. Several passengers were injured in the crash and are being treated at Matuu Hospital. 

 

MUILTIPLE VEHICLES CRASH AT KINOO

Two trucks, two 14 seater and a matatu, have crashed at Regen near Kikuyu. The injured have been rushed to Thogoto Mission Hospital. Unlike earlier Mombasa Road accident no fatalities were reported. Crash severity injuries and fatalities are reduced in dual carriageways as vehicles are moving in the same direction unlike head collisions which happen on two way traffic highways.
